Skye has a new human friend!

Last weekend, my friend Corinne came to spend the day with me. As usual, I set up a fence in the house to keep Skye and guests separated. But since Corinne is a dog trainer and behaviorist guru—she runs dog-ibox and DOGLi—we decided to see if she could start building a relationship with Skye.

She began by casually tossing treats over the fence, making no eye contact and applying no pressure. It worked beautifully. After some time, once we had settled in the living room, we decided to see how Skye would respond if we removed the fence. Corinne opened it, and Skye immediately followed.

Corinne continued tossing treats as she sat in a chair. Skye was so interested that she came too close for Corinne to keep tossing treats, so she offered them directly from her hand. Watch!

Skye then gave Corinne a thorough sniff—she has two dogs at home—before settling in her corner just behind the chair. Later, she moved to her more comfortable bed and napped while we chatted. Seeing her so at ease with a new person felt like such a big step forward!

Moments like this remind me how far we've come. After five years of patience, love, and all the work we’ve done with Tanya, it’s paying off. Skye is expanding her circle of trust, and that’s a beautiful thing to witness.
